ediFile. GenerateDigest

Generates the digest or hash of the file content.

Syntax:

• <sDigest> = object.GenerateDigest(<lEncodeMechanism>)

Parameters:

• lEncodeMechanism – Encoding mechanism used to encode the resulting digest.  Only the supported mechanisms listed in Encoding Mechanism Type Constants are allowed.

Returns:

Returns 1 if the operation is successful; otherwise the operation returns zero.

Remarks:

The algorithm used to generate the digest or hash is specified in the security object of this file object.  The security object can be retrieved by GetSecurity.
