Redefines a Data Element Identifier Code.

Syntax:

• <sIdentifierCode> = object.DefineElementID(<Data Element Constant>)
• object.DefineElementID(<Data Element Constant>) = <sIdentifier Code>

Parameters:

• Data Element Constant – A constant specifying the Data Element.  The following constants are available in Data Element Type Constants.

Returns

Returns a string specifying the identifier code.

Remarks

Some data elements in the document contain values that are important to processing the document as a whole. The values in the document can determine whether the document will be processed successfully or not. When generating a new document, the values in these certain data elements can also be filled automatically based on certain conditions that have been pre-specified by the user. When processing the document, these data elements are monitored based on the element ID. However, if the element ID in some implementation guideline differ, then this method can be used to specify the new element ID.
