ediScmDataElement.DataType

Gets the data type of the data element.

Syntax:

• <sDataType>  = object.DataType

Remarks

The data element is always associated with a data type that indicates the nature of the data that it is allowed to hold.  The following data types are currently allowed: 

ASC/X12

• Nn – Numeric.
• R – Decimal.
• ID – Identifier.
• AN – Alphanumeric string.
• DT – Date.
• TM – Time.
• B – Binary.

UN/EDIFACT

• AN – Alphanumeric
• A – Alphabetic.
• N – Numeric.
