ediSecurityCertificate. SignFile

Signs a file.

Syntax:

• <lretval> = object.SignFile(<sFileName>, <sSignAlgorithm>, <lSignatureFormatType>, <sSignedFileName>)

Parameters:

• sFileName – Full path name of file to sign.
• sSignAlgorithm – Signature algorithm used to sign the file.
• lSignatureFormatType – Signature format of resulting signed file.  The supported signed file formats are listed in Signature Format Type Constants.
• sSignedFileName – Full path name of the signed target file.

Returns:

Returns 1 if the operation is successful; otherwise the operation returns zero.

Remarks:

For the certificate to sign a file, the certificate uses the private key that it has been associated to.  The association to the private key is required because the certificate does not hold the private key -- only the public key.  To associate a certificate to a private key in the Cryptographic Service Provider key container, invoke the methods UpdateCSP or DetermineCSP.
