What is Framework EDI (FREDI)?

EDIdEv Framework EDI is a software development tool that includes an ActiveX/COM, and application utilities to give developers the ability to create Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) enabled programs. 

The FREDI ActiveX/COM provides programmers a set of functions and commands that parses, constructs and validates EDI files, which results in faster EDI development application or EDI system integration.  Thus, FREDI allows developers to focus more on the implementation of business requirements rather than the gritty details of an EDI format.

FREDI also includes three application utilities: the eFilemanager, the eAnalyzer, and the SEF Manager.  

• The eFilemanager allows users to view EDI files in a more comprehensive format by including its descriptions of data segments, elements and codes in the display.
• The eAnalyzer helps users troubleshoot large EDI files by generating a report that pinpoints to areas of the EDI file that failed to meet the implementation guideline.
• The SEF Manager allows users to view, create or edit SEF files.  With the SEF Manager, users can include into a SEF file their own implementation guideline for their trading partners to follow.

For the FREDI Enterprise Edition, two additional utilities are included: the eSecurityConsole and the ISAPI Extension Console.

• The eSecurityConsole allows the user to view Cryptographic Security Provider information, which allows the user to determine the security services available in the system.
• The ISAPI Extension Console allows the user to control the settings for the FREDI ISAPI Extension on the server for synchronous communications with the client.

Framework EDI supports two worldwide EDI standards: ASC X12 and UN/EDIFACT.
