Procedures for Translating an ASC/X12 Document

There are multiple ways to translate an ASC/X12 document using FREDI, depending on how one prefers to read and extract data from the document.  The following example procedures describe some of the ways how one can translate an ASC/X12 Purchase Order transaction set (850).

• Simple.  Traverses all the data segments in an EDI file and extracts the data.
• Simple w/ String.  Traverses all the data segments in a string and extracts the data.
• Dynamic.  Dynamically retrieve a single value.
• Forward Only.  Traverses all the data segments in the file and extracts the data in forward only mode for better performance.
• No Schema.  Traverses all the data segments in the file and extracts the data without using a schema.
• Modify Data.  Loads the file and modify a single data element value.
