Removing Key Container Association
Digital certificates normally hold only the public key and not the private key of a public/private key pair. Because the private key is required for signing and decrypting, sometimes the certificate is associated instead to a key container whereby the private key in the key container is then used to sign and decrypt. The public key in the key container is equivalent to the public key in the certificate. To remove the key container association from the certificate, take the following steps:
After selecting the menu option, the key container association is removed from the certificate.
