Implementation Guidelines

Framework EDI (FREDI) refers to implementation guidelines for verification of correct syntax.  Only the following types are used by FREDI to verify EDI documents:

1. Standard Reference Library.  This is an internal library containing versions of the ASC/X12 or UN/EDIFACT standard that FREDI will reference to verify the syntax of, or build, EDI documents.
   
2. Standard Exchange Format (SEF).  Files that follow the SEF standard contain syntax information that FREDI references to verify, or build, EDI documents.  If these files are provided, they will be used first before referencing the Standard Reference Library.
