Certificate System Store

All Microsoft Windows operating systems, except for Windows 95 (R), provide facilities to store and manage digital certificates.  Digital Certificates are contained in Certificate Stores (e.g. My, Root, Trust, etc.), and Certificate Stores, in turn, are contained in Certificate Locations (e.g. Current User, Local Machine, etc.).  Multiple certificate stores are available to store the different categories of digital certificates in the system.  

To access a certificate store, click the following in the toolbox menu.

Alternatively, to access these using the menu, click the following

• Certificate Store User Key Set.  The Certificate Store available to the logged on user.
  • Menu: View > Certificate Store > User Key Set
    
• Certificate Store Machine Key Set.  The Certificate Store available to the local machine..
  • Menu: View > Certificate Store > Machine Key Set
    

A certificate store consists of a collection of:

• Digital Certificates

A certificate system store represents a logical collection of physical stores.  Digital certificates listed in the system store are the combined digital certificates of all the physical stores in the system store.
