Introduction

The eSecurityConsole is a utility that allows management of security resources such as key containers within Cryptographic Service Provider (CSP) databases, and Digital Certificates within Certificate Stores.  These resources provide security services such as encrypting, decrypting, verifying, signing, and so on, which can be used to secure external files.

This version of eSecurityConsole uses the same engine as the Framework EDI component.

Starting eSecurityConsole

The eSecurityConsole displays Cryptographic Service resources in two modes: the User Key Set and Machine Key Set.  The User Key Set mode displays resources available to the logged on user, while the Machine Key Set displays those available to the local machine. Once the application has been launched, the following menu and toolbox are displayed in the program

Initially you can show the following by clicking the following toolbox option:

• Service Providers User Key Set.  List of CSPs available to the logged on user.
  • Menu: View > Cryptographic Service Providers > User Key Set
    
• Service Providers Machine Key Set.  List of CSPs available to the local machine.
  • Menu: View > Cryptographic Service Providers > Machine Key Set
    
• Certificate Store User Key Set.  The Certificate Store available to the logged on user.
  • Menu: View > Certificate Store > User Key Set
    
• Certificate Store Machine Key Set.  The Certificate Store available to the local machine.
  • Menu: View > Certificate Store > Machine Key Set
    

In this hierarchy, the nested sub object is an item belonging to the object that directly nests it.
